The .sm domain name you wish to register must be in RFC822 format (i.e.: telecomitalia.sm) and must be compatible with the Regulation.
For every .sm domain name two entities are involved (Natural Persons or Legal Entities) that cover a specific role.
The first role is the Owner, that is the one that is registering the domain name for uses allowed by the Regulation.
The second role is the Technical Contact, that is the one that manage the information about the name servers, as well as the one to contact in case of any technical issue about the domain.
It may also coincide with the Owner.
A .sm Domain Name Registration consists of two simple steps, one for each role: filling and forwarding of the Letter for Accountability Assumption (LAR),
and filling and forwarding of the Electronic Registration Form (MRE).

Step 1 - Letter for Accountability Assumption (LAR)
The Owner has to fully fill in the Letter for Accountability Assumption (LAR), sign it and then send it to the Registration Authority.
Depending on the legal configuration of the owner, the proper document must be used: LAR for Natural Persons or the LAR for Legal Entities.
CAUTION: the LAR is in italian language and no changes or translations are permitted. To help you to fully understand what you are going to undersign a translation of the two documents are available here: Translation of the LAR
Independent from your legal classification, "Domain name", "Owner contact", "Technical contact" (which in the LAR is called "provider/maintainer") and the consent or not to the publication on the Internet of the personal data associated with the domain, are mandatory data.
For Natural Persons the Owner data is the first name, the last name, the date and place of birth, the residency street address, city, country, postal code, the phone number, the fax number and an email address.
For Legal Entities (Public administrations, Associations, Legal persons, companies, individual firms, professionals, etc.) the Owner data is first name and last name of the person that legally represents
the organization, the organization name, the legal street address, city, country, postal code, the phone number, the fax number and an email address.
In both cases the only optional field is the fax number, all the other fields are mandatory.
The Owner email will be used for any message from the Registration Authority, so it must be a working email and must be read from the Owner itself.

The Letter for Accountability Assumption (LAR), accompanied by a copy of an identity document of the person signing (Natural Person or legal representative of the Legal Entity), must be sent:

Step 2 - Electronic Registration Form (MRE)
The Technical Contact must send an email with the Electronic Registration Form (MRE), fully filled in, in the body.
The email must be sent to the address domain@telecomitalia.sm, by the email address written in the "Technical Contact" section of the MRE itself, must have a proper subject
(i.e: "New Domain: mydomain.sm"), and must contain in the body the Electronic Registration Form (MRE) as plain text.
MRE with attachments, different format, or different sender than the one written in the "Technical Contact" section will not be processed.

The MRE is made up of four section:
1. "Domain Name":
Name of the .sm domain name that is going to be registered
